Anticipation

We all experience the act of great anticipations in our life from time to time.  Webster’s dictionary defines anticipation as “the act of looking forward; especially: pleasurable expectation.”  We anticipate a great Christmas, birthday, or a reunion with friends or loved ones.  Sometimes those moments are what we expected and sometimes even more. However, sometimes they fail to live up to what we thought. I am Anticipating a great event to occur at any time.  There is no doubt that it will be the greatest event of all times.  It is spoken of several different times in scripture.

John 14:3 Jesus said, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Acts 1:10-11 (KJV)
10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (KJV)
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

 Revelation 3:11 (KJV)
11 Behold, I come quickly…………..

As Christians we should anticipate Jesus’ return at any time.  Because of this anticipation, we should strive to:

  1. Draw closer to him day to day
  2. Seek to share the Gospel with everyone possible
  3. Live each day as if this were the day of His return

As a Christian, you know how the events of that day will affect you.  You have friends and loved ones who do not know Christ as Savior, and they will be left behind.  If you study Revelations, you know the horrific events they will face.  Therefore, it is so important we share with them the anticipation of that great day!

Prayer:  Lord I know you’re coming soon, please help me to draw closer to you day by day until that time comes.  Help me to be alert to the opportunities to share the Gospel with those whom I come in contact with.
